Don't Ignore Gum Problems — From Swelling to Loose Teeth, It Can Happen in Three Steps

Does your gum bleed easily when you brush? This might be the earliest warning sign from your gums.

How Do Gums Become "Sick"?

The problem usually starts with “gingivitis“. Bacteria (plaque) left uncleaned between teeth and along the gumline irritate the gums, making them red, swollen, and fragile—they bleed at the slightest touch . If this is ignored, the inflammation can deepen, damaging the jawbone that holds your teeth in place, progressing to “periodontitis“. Teeth may gradually become loose and even fall out.

Remember These Three Key Signs:
1.  Bleeding when brushing: This is the most common and easily overlooked early signal.
2.  Persistent bad breath: Bacteria deep in the gum pockets can produce unpleasant odors.
3.  Receding gums or teeth appearing longer : This indicates that the supporting tissues have already been damaged.

How to Protect Your Gums?
The key is to clean along the gumline every day. When brushing, angle the bristles at 45 degrees toward where your teeth meet your gums and use short, gentle back-and-forth motions. Also, flossing is essential to remove plaque between teeth—this step cannot be replaced by brushing alone.

Healthy gums are the foundation for strong teeth. Consistent, proper cleaning, along with choosing a toothpaste that effectively fights plaque and cares for your gums, is the simplest and most valuable investment you can make for prevention.
